Writing the Walls

‘Writing the Walls’, now 20 years old, began in 2005 when Artistic Director Mara Mills, Studio Theater in Exile, and Livia Straus, co-founder Hudson Valley MOCA, decided to integrate visual arts by reaching the community to contribute original works reflective of their interaction with art in the exhibit. This year, Writing the Walls: REFLECTIONS will be based on two exhibitions, “Psychological Portraits” (in Main Gallery) and the 2025 juried show, “So, You Think I’m too Old to…” (Upstairs Gallery) at HVMOCA.

5th Annual Juried Exhibition: 'So you think you’re too old to...'

Now, in for its 5th Annual Juried Exhibition, HVMOCA seeks to feature works by artists 62 and older, culled from an open RFP on CAFE, and placed within the context of art history. We are especially interested in the works by artists who reached their prime in their more advanced years

'WAR' National Juried Exhibition

'WAR', three simple letters inspiring terror. War can take many forms, have many acronyms. The 'Just War', a 'Holy War', a 'War on Terror', 'Going on a Warpath', 'Internal Struggle', 'War against Cancer', 'Sparring Partners', 'Trading Barbs'... War may be external and/or internal, always with an element of tension, of conflict.
