A Creative Initiative of HVMOCA and Studio Theatre in Exile

Writing the Walls 2024 will build on the Theme 'WAR', with writers and composers asked to create works that are inspired by the visuals to be selected based on an open call for the Juried exhibition 'WAR'. Recordings of readings and performances will be staged in the Studio Theatre in Exile's Black Box Theatre at HVMOCA. All performances are under the direction of Mara Mills, creative force behind Studio Theatre in Exile.

'WAR', three simple letters inspiring terror. War can take many forms, have many acronyms. The 'Just War', a 'Holy War', a 'War on Terror', 'Going on a Warpath', 'Internal Struggle', 'War against Cancer', 'Sparring Partners', 'Trading Barbs'... War may be external and/or internal, always with an element of tension, of conflict.
